Washington DC/Hamilton VA trip

With fairly short notice, we decided to make the cross country trip to Washington DC. Jim's bestfriend and family live in a nearby smalltown. Miss S was very excited to board the plane at LAX, and was excellent as we sat for an almost 5-hour plane ride. I had a backpack full of entertainment, and her 1st plane ride was amazingly great. We stayed with the Mills family in their very cozy/traditional Hamilton, Virgina home. No department stores, no fast food, no chain restaurants - a smalltown USA experience. One day we took the kids to a nearby pumpkin patch/petting zoo/outdoor entertainment park. We took a hayride, went down a huge slide, looked at all the farm animals, and enjoyed apple cider and the beautiful crisp weather outside.
The next day we headed to Baltimore, and visited the National Aquarium, where the kids were entertained with fish, sharks, sting ray, and a dolphin show. We had lunch among all the beautiful brick buildings, set on the Baltimore waterfront. We hit the road home just as the rain started to pour down. Jim drove about 1 1/2 hours to the FBI Academy to visit his good friend from the police department who is now in the FBI.
We also went a winery where the fall leaves were changing colors, and the beautiful countryside was abundant. I tried to get some pregnant pictures (16 weeks), seeing that we have not taken nearly as many pictures as we did when I was pregnant with S.
Monday was our big day when we all headed to Washington DC. We started the beautiful morning with a tour inside the Washington Monument, all the way to the top to view all of Washington DC.
View of the White House from inside the Washington Monument.
Miss S looking out the window at the Lincoln Memorial.
Awesome shot of the Washington Monument lined up with the mid-morning sun.
Out front of the White House.
Our long walk to The Capitol where we had a tour set up to go inside and look around.
Inside the Capitol looking up in the dome.
U.S. Supreme Court
Northside of the White House.
Beautiful fall leaves.
Grabbing some food in Georgetown before heading back to Hamilton for our last night.
